Why Volunteer in Panama?
Panama may be famous for its canal and hats, but we want the world to know it has so much more to offer! Panama is a country blessed with beautiful landscapes, stretching coastlines and varied habitats with some of the most welcoming people in Central America.
There is an abundance of diverse ecosystems including several types of tropical forest, mangroves and coral reefs that contain an astonishing variety of flora and fauna, some of which are still being discovered today!
Our excellent partners at ADOPTA Bosque Panama have allowed us and our volunteers access to their bases in Gamboa, Colón, Cerro Chucantí and San Bartolo where we can support the tremendous work they are doing in the country.
Did you know that over 60 new species have recently been discovered at the Cerro Chucantí Private Nature Reserve?
By volunteering with Frontiers On Foot you can discover Panama's incredible biodiversity up close and personal!
From the vibrant macaw and powerful harpy eagle to playful squirrel monkeys and the elusive puma, Panama is a paradise for wildlife enthusiasts. Explore lush rainforests where you can spot sloths lounging in the treetops and an array of exotic reptiles and amphibians, many of which are endemic to the country. Panama offers an unforgettable opportunity to witness some of the world's most fascinating species in their natural habitats.
Panama's diverse habitats and ecosystems face significant threats from human activities and environmental changes. Deforestation driven by agricultural expansion, mining, logging and urban development is rapidly depleting the country's rich rainforests, leading to habitat loss and the threat of extinction for countless species. Urgent action is needed to protect these critical ecosystems. We hope that the work we do with our volunteers and partners will help preserve this beautiful landscape for future generations to come.

We will help you every step of the way
Volunteers will be able to reach a member of FoF staff from the moment an inquiry is made. We will liaise continuously with all of our prospective volunteers to ensure that all necessary arrangements are made and that any questions or concerns are promptly addressed, providing a seamless and supportive experience throughout the entire process.
One of our representatives will be on hand to take care of everything at ground level upon arrival, including airport pickups and transport to the project location. From this point on, Frontiers On Foot, together with our partners, will combine to create a truly unforgettable volunteer experience. Each volunteer cycle will last a minimum of 4 weeks with additional weeks available for those wanting a longer stay.
It is worth noting that travel to and from Panama is not included in any of the programme fees, however we are happy to provide travel advice from your country of origin.
